The beaches around Galle are also easy accessible. Unawatuna Beach is just 40 Minutes away and offers safe year round sea-bathing in very shallow waters. Nearby are the idyllic and secluded Jungle Beach and the little known Wijeya Beach – perhaps the most beautiful beach in the island.

The Weligama Beach Break is a sand beach break that is ideal for beginners. It is a 400m ride on a slow, low power wave. Many lefts and rights appear at different tides and the best swell appears from the South West
More advanced surfers can find reef breaks close by in Mirissa just 3km to the east or Gurubebila which is about 3km west.
