During the Winter Season, the hotel runs a beachside ‘hopper hut’ in the evenings that sprawls on to the sand and features the island’s iconic ‘fast food’ called ‘hoppers’ and ‘egg hoppers’. All are served with a tasty accompaniment of salsas and sambols and delicious curries. Hoppers are soft crispy round pancakes that cook in wok-shaped pans. The middle area of the “bowl” is thick, with thin almost frilly edges all round. The name is an English adaptation of the Tamil word for rice cakes called Appa or Appam. Open From November - April
The A La Carte Menu features a selection of quick and healthy lunch options that includes international dishes such as spaghetti, pasta, Thai curries and a selection of tasty burgers. The A La Carte Menu also specializes in offering a salad choice that combines popular international favourites with Sri Lankan vegetables, fruits and spices to give an authentic taste. Alternatively, guests are welcome to sample a traditional Sri Lankan ‘rice and curry’ or a Dutch style ‘lampries’ wrapped in banana leaves as lunch options too.
